We recently had the opportunity to attend a media preview of the new Star Wars Miniland at the Legoland Discovery Center. We started out our evening with a visit to the Miniland, which has been invaded by Star Wars characters and vehicles. Grab a scavenger hunt list and find each of the characters listed for some extra fun.
Of course, we visited the boys’ favorite spots at Legoland – the 4D theatre and the Kingdom Quest Laser Ride. We also spent some time at the City Construction Site indoor playground. Cooper and Dexter helped to build a life-sized Yoda, and we participated in a session at the Master Builder’s Academy.
The highlight of the night was our sneak peak at the new Star Wars Miniland, which is based on Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. There are three interactive exhibits:
- Droid Destruction – Shoot marbles to battle the droids on Naboo.
- Boonta Eve Classic Podrace – Two players race podracers on Tatooine.
- Naboo Starfighter – Control a ship launching from the domed palace in Naboo.
The exhibits are pretty amazing; the details are amazing and it’s a lot of fun to examine each of them carefully. It’s not at all surprising that it took 1,500 hours, 500,000 LEGO bricks, and 2,000 mini-figures to create Star Wars Miniland.
Star Wars Miniland won’t be around forever (it will be moving to another Legoland location in December 2013), so be sure to check it out soon. Want free tickets? Enter below for a chance to win 4 free tickets!
