Halloween is too much fun for just one day, so here are plenty of fun activities and events in Chicago and the suburbs so you can enjoy Halloween for weeks. Single Day or Weekend Events

Highwood Pumpkin Festival, Highwood

  • Friday, October 17 – Sunday, October 19; hours vary
  • $2/person
  • Pumpkin carving, pony rides, petting zoo, 5K walk/run, parade, lighting ceremony, and much more
  • Raising money and awareness for Autism
  • A sensory quiet area will be available at the Highwood Library

Boo at the Zoo, Brookfield Zoo

  • Saturdays & Sundays, October 18-19 and 25-26; hours vary
  • Included in zoo admission
  • Corn maze, costume parade, photo ops, zoo chats, activities, and more

Sycamore Pumpkin Festival, Sycamore

Happy Hauntings, Chicago Cultural Center

  • Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26
  • Free
  • Midnight Circus, ghost tour, face painting, arts & crafts, costume contest, movie screenings, magic shows, and more. See website for full schedule.

Simon Mall Kidgits Boo Bash, Orland Square Mall

  • Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 am-Noon
  • Free for Kidgits members; membership is $5/year per child
  • Activities and giveaways.

Trunk or Treat, Kansas & Oak Street in downtown Frankfort

  • Saturday, October 25 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Simon Mall Kidgits Club Mall-o-ween Party, Woodfield Mall

  • Free; Kidgits members (membership is $5/year per child) receive a special treat

Trunk-or-Treat at Willow Creek Church in Crystal Lake, 220 Exchange Drive, Suite A, Crystal Lake

  • Please bring a canned item to donate

  • October 24 through October 31. Noon to 5:00 pm on weekends, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm weekdays.

  • Spooky train ride, pumpkin decorating contest, every child gets a pumpkin from the chief.

Legoland Discovery Center’s Brick-or-Treat601 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg

  • Included in general admission; save $5 if you wear a costume.
  • Haunted factory tour, help build a Lego pumpkin patch, creepy creative challenges, trick-or-treat for Lego bricks.
