Chicago Area Christmas Tree Farms 2014

Real or artificial? It’s an ongoing debate this time of the year. Part of the fun of having a real tree is the journey to get it, so here are places in there area where you can choose and cut your own tree! All of the farms listed below offer pick-your-own trees. As always, it’s best to call ahead to ensure the farm will be open and trees are available. Please note that many farms accept only cash or checks.

Bengston Tree Farm10919 W. Wilmington, Peotone, 708-258-9610

  • Opens November 28. Open daily from 9:00 am-4:30 pm.
  • Hot chocolate and warming barn available.
  • Saws available for use with deposit. Free tree retrieval service. Shaking and wrapping available.
  • $8/foot up to 10′, $10/foot for 11′ and taller
  • Cash or checks only

Ben’s Christmas Tree Farm7719 Ryan Road, Harvard, 630-279-0216

  • Open November 28 through December 20. Open Saturdays and Sundays, and Friday, November 28 from 9:00 am-4:30 pm, and Fridays from 11:00 am-4:30 pm.
  • Complimentary coffee and hot cocoa and wagon rides. Visit with farm animals and Santa makes appearances.
  • Free shaking and bailing. Saws available for use.
  • Pet-friendly.
  • Ben’s uses organic farming practices and trees are pesticide free.
  • $6.00 – $9.00/foot
  • Open November 28 through December 21. Open Monday-Friday, 10:00 am-4:00 pm, Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Open 9:00 am-4:00 pm on Friday, November 28.
  • Cookies, coffee, and hot cocoa available.
  • Cash & checks only. Free shaking and baling.
  • All trees $50.

Cupola House Tree Farm4030 N. 3000W Road, Bourbonnais, 815-932-NOEL

  • Open November 22 through December 24. Open daily from 8:30 am-dusk.
  • Wreaths, hay rides, and wood fire available. Free hot apple cider.
  • Free shaking and bailing.
  • Pines for $4.25/foot, Fir or spruce for $6.50/foot. Pre-cut trees $48-$112.

Kuiper’s Family Farm1N318 Watson Road, Maple Park, 815-827-5200

  • Christmas Tree Farm opens November 22. Open daily 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
  • Free apple cider donut for everyone in the party when you buy a tree. Farmhouse Kitchen, Barn Store, and Orchard Shop & Bakery available. Free shaking and baling.
  • Cash only at the Farmhouse Kitchen. Credit cards accepted at the Barn Store and Orchard Shop & Bakery.
  • Trees priced up to $84.

  • Opens November 28 from 9:00 am-4:30 pm. Open 2:00 pm-4:30 pm Tuesday-Friday and 9:00 am-4:30 pm Saturday-Sunday through December 20.
  • Barn Store available. Free use of saws, shaking, and baling.
  • Cash & checks only.
  • All trees $37.

  • Opens November 28 from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Open Saturday-Sunday 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Fridays 1:00 pm-5:00 pm through December 21 or sold out.
  • Christmas decorations available. Free use of saws, shaking, and baling. Free hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn, and cookies.
  • Tree prices vary, but average is $65.

  • Open November 22-December 23. Open 10:00 am-7:00 pm daily.
  • Free sled when snow is on the ground; free cocoa and donuts. Seasonal store and warming station available. Free shaking and baling. Saw rental $10.
  • $45/tree.
