It’s Halloween season! Yes, officially Halloween only lasts one day, but I prefer to celebrate much longer than that. Get those costumes ready and enjoy these events all through the month of October.

Single Day or Weekend Events

Fall Family Festival, Lehmann Park in Lake Villa

  • Sunday, October 18 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm
  • $5 per family, or $2 with a book donation
  • Pumpkin decorating contest, carnival games, free pumpkins, story telling, music, and more

Boo at the Zoo, Brookfield Zoo

  • Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18 & 24-25
  • Included in zoo admission, but additional charges for some activities
  • Corn maze, creepy carousel, haunted hayride, costume parade, and more

Sycamore Pumpkin Festival, Sycamore

  • Wednesday, October 21 through Sunday, October 25
  • Free
  • Entertainment, vendors, carnival, pumpkin decorating contest, and more

Simon Mall Kidgets Boo Bash, Orland Square Mall

  • Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 am-Noon
  • Free for Kidgits members ($5 annual membership fee)
  • Treats, crafts, prizes, costume contest, and more

Costume Contest & Trick or Treating, Santa’s Village AZoosment Park in West Dundee

  • Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 from 3:30 pm-6:00 pm
  • Included in admission to Santa’s Village AZoosment Park
  • Costume contest at 3:30 pm; trick or treating from 4:30 pm-6:00 pm

Halloween Event, Bass Pro Shop in Bolingbrook, Gurnee, and Peoria

  • Friday, October 24 through Saturday, October 31
  • Free
  • Photos and crafts. Costume parade and trick or treating on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

Trunk or Treat, Frankfort

  • Saturday, October 25 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm
  • Free
  • Costume parade and a Safety Trunk or Treat organized by the Frankfort Police Department

Trunk or Treat, Willow Creek Church in Crystal Lake

  • Friday, October 30 from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm
  • Donation of one canned good (chili preferred) per child
  • Candy, treats, inflatables, photo opportunities, Reptile Room. Wear a costume!

Mall-O-Ween, Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg

  • Saturday, October 31 from Noon-2:00 pm
  • Free; special treat for Kidgits members ($5 annual membership fee)
  • Games, activities, and mall-wide trick-or-treating
