It’s getting down to the wire now, but if you’re struggling for some ideas for a special guy in your life – husband, boyfriend, friend, brother, father, son – I have some suggestions. I’ll also say that I think any of these gifts could be great gifts for women too (well, except for one), but they’re generally more “guy” type of gifts. Order your gifts soon because time is running out!
JORD Wood Watch
Let’s be honest – everyone has a cell phone with them all the time now so you don’t need to have a watch anymore. JORD makes watches that aren’t about necessity, but about making a statement. JORD wood watches are hand-crafted with a variety of beautiful wood types: Ebony, Koa, Purpleheart, Zebrawood, Rosewood, Sandlewood, Maple, and Bamboo. A classic style like JORD’s Fieldcrest, Sully, Sidney, and Ely styles will appeal to a guy with more traditional or conservative taste, but they also have modern designs like the 94A and the Delmar.
John received two JORD watches recently – a Red Sandlewood and White Carbon Delmar and a Zebrawood and Maple Fieldcrest. Both arrived in square wooden boxes and arrived sized to fit him. One fit perfectly; the other was a little tight, but there were additional pieces in the box so he was able to have it adjusted at a local jeweler. John liked both styles, but because he leans toward a more conservative look he was immediately sure about the Fieldcrest, but a little concerned that maybe he couldn’t really pull off the Delmar. It took a little while to get used to (the face of the Delmar is fairly large), but now that he’s used to it and has gotten some compliments on it he’s very happy.
Visit the JORD website to purchase a JORD watch or just to browse. Order by Sunday, December 20 for guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas!

If you’re shopping for that techie guy, the Amazon Echo is an obvious choice, but even the not-so-techie will appreciate this. The Echo looks like a tall speaker, but it’s so much more than that. The Echo connects to the Alexa cloud-based server through your wifi and Amazon account. Using voice commands you can listen to music from your library or the Amazon library, order items from Amazon, create lists, set alarms and timers, ask questions, and listen to podcasts and audio books. Echo even works with several different connection devices to control your lights or outlets with voice commands.
I got on the waiting list for the Amazon Echo as soon as it came out and we’ve had ours about a year. The whole family loves it. The kids love asking questions and playing music, and we all use the timers and alarms regularly. My father has MS and sometimes has difficulty with small buttons on remotes or phones, but with Amazon Echo he can easily play music and he controls lights and an outlet with WeMo devices paired with the Echo. Amazon is adding new features all the time and I’m really excited to see what Echo can do in the future.
Everybody knows that one of the most exciting parts of Christmas is the toys, and they’re not just for kids. I consulted with my husband when making this list and asked him for his opinions on what I should include. In his words, “there’s no guy that doesn’t want a drone.” So there you have it.
A drone can be just for fun – flying around and doing tricks – or for capturing some fun photos and videos. The sky’s the limit when it come to drone features.
If you have a small budget or are just looking for a fun little toy, the UDI RC U27 3D Inverted Drone Copter has great reviews, performs 180 degree flips, and you’ll only pay about $35. On the other end of the spectrum, you can get all the bells and whistles on the DJI Inspire 1 for nearly $3,000. Of course, there are TONS of choices in between, and you can easily find a remote controlled drone with camera and video capabilities for a couple hundred dollars.
It’s always nice to get a self-care gift that makes you feel a little spoiled, but sometimes we only think of these kinds of gifts for women. Men will love the gift of a straight razor because it gives a closer shave than regular razors and they’re a fun retro gift.
You can find straight razors at department stores and online, and Amazon has a large selection of straight razors as well as a selection of shaving kits that include a straight razor and things like shave soap, a shave brush, oil and aftershave, and a strop for sharpening the blade.
Also a perk: straight razors are an economical and environmentally-friendly gift because you sharpen it rather than having to purchase replacement razors.
