Family traditions make holidays special, and Christmas is one of those holidays that is overflowing with traditions for most families. If cutting your own tree isn’t one of your traditions yet, it should be! Choose from one of the many Chicago Christmas tree farms.

All of the farms listed below offer pick-your-own trees. As always, it’s best to call ahead to ensure the farm will be open and trees are available. Please note that many farms accept only cash or checks.

Anderson Tree Farm, 508 W. Route 126, Plainfield, 815-436-2140

  • Open weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas, 8:00 am-11:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
  • Animals on site, breakfast available.
  • 5 varieties of trees.
  • Free shaking, baling, hot chocolate, and popcorn.
  • Trees are $9 per foot.

  • Complimentary coffee and hot cocoa and wagon rides.
  • Tractor-drawn wagon rides on Fridays; Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides on Saturdays and Sundays, and on Friday, November 24.

  • Free shaking and bailing. Saws available for use.

  • Ben’s uses organic farming practices and trees are pesticide free.

  • Average price for trees is $50.
  • Open November 24 through December 18, 2017;  Open Friday, November 24 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm; Monday-Friday, Noon-4:00 pm; Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm.

  • Open November 24, 25, and 26, and December 2 and 3 only, from 9:00 am-3:30 pm.
  • Free tractor-drawn wagon rides, shaking, baling, saws, twine, coffee, and hot cocoa.

  • Barn Store available. Free use of saws, shaking, and baling.
  • Cash & checks only.
  • All trees $38.

  • Open now through December 24, 2017. Open 10:00 am-6:00 pm daily.
  • Seasonal store and warming station available.
  • Free sled when snow is on the ground; free cocoa and donuts. Free shaking and baling. Saw rental refundable $10.
  • Santa stops by for visits.
  • $45/tree. Premium trees are $60.

  • Storytime with Mrs. Claus from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm on November 30 and December 12, and 10:00 am-11:00 am December 18.
  • Pines are $16-$53; spruce trees are $8.50/foot.
