Woah! It’s snow! It might make travel a little less convenient, but it’s so beautiful and makes holiday activities even more fun. Is there anything prettier than holiday lights and snow? I don’t think so. Here are some fun things to do this weekend if you’re looking to get out of the house:

Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Lights at the Museum of Science and Industry – November 19, 2015 through January 3, 2016

For the 74th year the Museum of Science and Industry is celebrating the holidays with it’s Christmas Around the World event. For nearly two months they’ll have more 50 trees on display, with decorations celebrating a variety of cultures and traditions. Holiday music will play throughout the display area and “snow” will fall every half hour. On weekends and some weekdays dance and choral groups will perform for visitors.

Chicago Toy and Game Fair at Navy Pier – Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 am-6:00 pm and Sunday, November 22 from 10:00 am-5:00 pm

Check out brand new toys and old favorites and test them out. You’ll see toys your kids don’t even know exist yet so it’s great for planning your Christmas shopping. There are plenty of activities and fun things for the kids and many vendors sell products at a special discount.

Magnificent Mile Lights Festival – Saturday, November 21

Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan, Chicago for BMO Harris Bank Stage and Lights Festival Lane. Parade on North Michigan Avenue from Oak Street to Walker Drive. Fireworks at North Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River.

The annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival kicks off the holiday season with a parade, activities, and a lighting ceremony.

BMO Harris Bank Stage with performers like Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players, Michelle Branch, Anthony Kearns, and Charles Perry.
11:00 am-4:00 pm
Lights Festival Lane with face painting, holiday photos, Blackhawks and Bulls tent, plus activities and giveaways from local and national sponsors.
5:30 pm-7:00 pm
Tree Lighting Parade

Illumination at the Morton Arboretum from November 20, 2015 through January 2, 2016

Lights, sights, and sounds will enchant visitors as they walk along this outdoor path. The Illumination experience includes music from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, LED lights, and projections, and several features are interactive.
