At the 3rd base concession stand you can take the Brat-A-Boom Challenge – attempt to finish a 2-foot-long Brat-A-Boom (Bobak’s bratwurst on a pretzel bun with beer cheese, sauerkraut, diced applewood smoked bacon, and deep-fried onion straws) and cheese fries in 30 minutes so you can be added to the Wall of Fame tablet.

We paid: We purchased four tickets on Living Social for only $20 (regular price of $40), spend $5 each for the boys to play in the play area, and about $20 on drinks and snacks for a total of about $50.
Our experience:
I’m not a big sports fan, but I do love going to baseball games. I’ll admit I only half pay attention to the game, but it’s nice being outdoors with family or friends, snacking on stadium food, and occasionally cheering for the home team.
I’ve been wanting to go to a Schaumburg Boomers game so when the tickets came up on Living Social at half price I jumped at the chance. We had to purchase tickets at the box office with our voucher so we went to the stadium a couple hours before the game to buy tickets, ate dinner in the area, and then came back for the game. We attended on a weeknight that happened to be “Appreciation Day” so as we walked in we each got an envelope. We found our seats and they were AWESOME! I wasn’t expecting much since we bought them the day of the game, but we were in the very first row just to the left of home plate. The best part was that our side was in the shade (it was in the high 90s when we arrived at 6:30). Below is a picture of the view from our seats.
We checked out the envelopes we each got as part of Appreciation Day – each had a tiny piece of paper with a random compliment (things like “that’s a nice shirt you’re wearing,” or “I love what you did to your hair”) plus a prize. One of us got a coupon for 10% of a souvenir, two got vouchers for buy one get one free tickets (up to 8 tickets with each voucher!), and one got two flex seat vouchers good for a free box seat ticket each. Not too bad!
The boys did get a bit restless quickly (although it may have had something to do with the oodles of sugar they had before the game) so John took them to the kids play area. For $5 each they got wristbands good for the entire night. There was an inflatable obstacle course and a bouncy house; one of the staff members told John they have two more inflatables that weren’t in use that night because it was a small crowd.
We filled ourselves full of goodies, cheered for the team (they won!), and overall had a really good time. I’m hoping we can squeeze in at least one more game before the end of the season.
Looking for a fun place to eat before the game? We visited 2Toots Train Whistle Grill just a few miles away!
