We were invited to enjoy dinner and a show at Medieval Times recently. We’ve been there a few times now, but it’s an exciting adventure each time.

Medieval Times Dexter

We usually try to arrive early so we have time to enjoy the pre-show fun of visiting the horses, window shopping at the various kiosks and counters, and the welcome from the king, but it didn’t work out this time. One of the other reasons it’s good to arrive early is for good seats – they’re assigned as you enter the castle – but we lucked out because there weren’t a lot of people attending the afternoon show and we got some great seats.

Medieval Times - Campbell & Cooper

The kids were pretty excited to be so close to the action (although Cooper was a little afraid of getting dust in his food; it didn’t wind up being a problem).

Each Medieval Times show includes a tournament with various challenges for the knights, who then have to battle each other in a jousting competition and then with swords. The winning knight must take on the evil knight to defend the kingdom.

During the show there are also performances by a dancing horse and a falcon.

Medieval Times - Cooper & Campbell

During the show we were served “Dragon’s Blood” (tomato) soup, bread, chicken, corn, and potatoes, followed by an apple pastry. Of course, there are no utensils so you have to eat with your hands. The food is delicious and we had enough leftovers from the five of us for another entire meal.

Our knight won the tournament this time so the kids were REALLY excited. It was a really fun afternoon.
