Chicago Area Kid-Friendly Valentine’s Events 2013

Valentine’s Day (or Valentine’s season maybe?) is a great time to spend time with your loved ones, including your kids, and showing them how special they are to you. There are fun events and parties starting this weekend to celebrate the holiday.

Please call or visit online prior to attending to verify information and keep in mind that most of these event require pre-registration. 

Date Night – Birchwood Recreation Center, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine

  • Thursday, February 7 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
  • $13/person (resident), $20/person (non-resident)
  • For dads & daughters and mothers & sons. For ages 3-12. Includes food, photos, and dancing. Registration required.
  • Friday, February 8 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
  • $15/child, $25/2 children
  • For children 0-3. Includes dancing, playspace admission, and a professional photo.

Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance – Shaw Recreation Center, 715 Engle Street, Dolton

  • Friday, February 8 from 6:30-9:00 pm.
  • $20/couple, $10/additional family member
  • For ages 3-15. Includes dancing and games. Photos available for an additional cost. Registration required.

Downers Grove Ice Fest: Love Is In The AirDowntown Downers Grove

  • Friday, February 8 at 6:30. Saturday & Sunday, February 9-10 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
  • FREE. $4 for movie.
  • Live ice sculpting demonstrations, Radio Disney, Ronald McDonald Magic Show, “Ice Age: Continental Drift” at the Trivoli Theatre benefiting Noah’s Hope.

I Love Nature Valentine’s Day Dance – Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, Chicago

  • Saturday, February 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
  • $40/adult member, $45/adult non-member, $15/child 4-18, $5/child 3 and under.
  • Includes exclusive after-hours access to the Museum, dinner & mocktails, DJ & dancing beats, Valentine’s Day card crafts, decorating cookies, two raffle tickets, and a swag bags for all kids. Registration required.

Family Valentine’s Concert – Schubas, 3159 N. Southport, Chicago

  • Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 am.
  • $8/person, children 2 and under free.

Chocolate Sundae Sunday – Discovery Center Museum, 711 N. Main Street, Rockford

  • Sunday, February 10 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
  • $2.50/person, $1.50/member. Museum admission is extra.
  • Includes sundae, valentine craft, and music.

Valentine’s Day Party – Oak Brook Terrace Park District, 1 South 325 Ardmore Ave, Oakbrook Terrace

  • Tuesday, February 12 from 4:00 – 4:45 pm.
  • $15/resident, $20/non-resident. Parents can attend for no charge.
  • For kids ages 3-6. Includes Valentine’s crafts, games, and a special story. Registration required.

Daddy Daughter Princess Ball – Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin

  • Friday, February 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
  • $30/resident couple, $8/additional child. $35/non-resident couple.
  • Includes buffet dinner, dancing, raffle. Registration required.

Dad & Daughter Sweetheart Ball – Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg

  • Saturday, February 16 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
  • $30/resident couple, $15/additional sibling. $45/non-resident couple, $22/additional sibling. Registration required by February 15.
  • For ages 4-12. Includes dinner, dancing, parting gift, and photo with dad.

Baby Loves Disco – Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago

  • Saturday, February 23 from 12:00 – 2:30 pm.
  • $15/walking person, $50/family 4-pack of tickets. Crawlers are free.
  • For ages 6 mo-7 years. Includes dance lessons, contests, arts & crafts, juice boxes, snacks, cash bar for adults, and surprises.
