MommyCon Mini Chicago

MommyCon is a conference for parents and expectant parents focusing on natural parenting with seminars on topics like breastfeeding, birth, car sear safety, and natural health. MommyCon will have 1000 attendees and will be in 2014, but MommyCon Mini conferences will be taking place in several cities. MommyCon Mini is a conference with approximately  300 attendees and it will be in Chicago on March 24, 2013.

Each MommyCon is a little bit different with local speakers who bring their take on natural parenting to the table. In Chicago the speakers include Gina of The Feminist Breeder, Abby of The Badass Breastfeeder, Kelli Paulus of The Hipster Homemaker, Dr. Robin Drake, Shirley Moore, CNM, Dr. Eisenstein. Topics include: birth, breastfeeding, car seat safety, babywearing, pediatrics care and alternative products to help you parent naturally. The event focuses on education and bringing families together to learn about instinctual parenting.

Other features include:

  • A car seat safety check area where Alyssa Majko-Ruben, CPST, will make sure your carseats are properly installed. You can also test out all the great seats from Clek, Maxi Cosi, Cosco, Safety 1st, Orbit Baby and Graco.
  • Beco Baby Carriers and Ergobaby have come together to promote the benefits of babywearing, and the importance of finding the perfect carrier for your family. They have also created a Babywearing Lounge where attendees can receive help trying out and testing carriers ranging from wraps to soft structured.
  • Giveaways from Orbit Baby, Safety 1st, Clek, Cosco, Boba, Maxi Cosi, Ergobaby, Beco Baby Carriers, Happy Family and many others!

Tickets are $45 and they’re selling fast; you can purchase tickets on the MommyCon site. Children are welcome at MommyCon and can attend free with a paying adult. MommyCon Chicago will be at Prairie Productions, 1314 W. Randolph Street, Chicago.

If you can not afford a ticket but would like to attend can apply for a scholarship by filling out a form on the MommyCon website. Scholarships are awarded randomly and will be announced on March 21 for the Chicago MommyCon Mini. Between 5 and 25 scholarships will be awarded.

MommyCon is also coming to Phoenix, Austin, Philadelphia, Portland and Kansas City.
