Marking Mini Milestones with Netflix

I’ve had some really big milestones in my life – graduating college and law school, getting married, having my kids. Once you’re a parent, the milestones are small, but they mean so much more – first words, first steps, first day of school.

Sometimes milestones can be really exciting, but sometimes they can be a little scary. When I was pregnant with Campbell, Cooper and Dexter loved to read and watch stories about new babies and new siblings. I think it made them feel more comfortable to know what to expect.

When it was time for Cooper, and then Dexter, to start school, I was nervous and scared about it, but the boys were so excited. They loved watching about schools and imagining if they’d have cubbies like the classroom on tv, or do experiments like Sid the Science Kid.

Netflix has some great recommendations for movies and shows to mark mini-milestones.

New Job: The Office
Getting Married: My Fair Wedding with David Tutera
Having a Baby: What to Expect When You’re Expecting
Life as a Parent: Parenthood
Running for Office: Parks & Recreation
Buying a Home: House Hunters

Even though I haven’t had a new job recently, and it’s been a while since I got married, I love to still appreciate shows about those milestones because they bring up great memories. I love, love, LOVE, Parenthood, too, because it’s filled with true parenting moments that I can relate to.

If you’ve got kids, you’ve got mementos. Kids love keeping little treasures too, especially when it’s related to a special milestone. Photos, awards, or small toys or trinkets help you and your kids remember those momentous events, and this Memory Box is a great way to keep all those treasures and mementos safe. Making the Memory Box together with your kids can even be another fun memory you’ll have together.

What’s a good movie or show without a yummy snack to go with it? I love sweet and salty, so these Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels look a-mazing. Turtle crunch is the one I HAVE to try. These are definitely on my list of things to do with the kids.
