New Year’s Countdowns When You Want Them on Netflix

It’s time to wrap up 2015 and welcome 2016! I’m working on reviewing 2015, preparing some financial records for taxes, and planning for 2016, but my kids have other priorities – they’re negotiating bedtime for tonight.

Every New Year’s Eve we have a buffet of appetizers and snacks in place of dinner. In the past, we’ve sent the kids to bed at a normal bedtime and then we wake them up just before midnight for a countdown, some(more) snacks, and then tuck them into bed again after we’ve celebrated a bit. It’s actually worked out much better than you’d think, but I’m hoping for just one bedtime tonight, and I’m not even sure I’ll make it to midnight!

Instead, we’ll be letting them stay up later than usual and doing our own countdown with some help from Netflix. Because I’m part of the #StreamTeam they sent us some comfy socks for everyone in the family and some celebration goodies – balloons, party hats and noisemakers, posters, and 2016 glasses. Netflix Streaming is offering six different countdowns with characters from some of the popular shows – Inspector Gadget, Care Bears & Cousins, Puffin Rock, Project MC2, Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, and All Hail King Julien. The BEST part of these countdowns is that they’re available anytime you want so midnight can come at 11:00 pm, 10:00 pm, 9:00 pm, or even 5:00 pm (no chance I’ll talk the kids into that, huh?).

The countdowns are short – only one, two, or three minutes long each – but perfect to wrap up the evening and 2015.
