Spooky Halloween Fun with Tombstone and Nestle

I love making fun food for the kids and Halloween is a great time for it! The other day I we bought some Tombstone pizzas (with special Scary Monsters packaging!) and fun size packages of Nestle candy – Butterfinger, Crunch bars, and Nerds – to make a fun and easy Halloween treat to get us in a Halloween mood!

I love the spooky packaging of the Tombstone pizzas so to continue that theme we got some Halloween cookie cutters and I cut the kids’ pizza in fun shapes, like a bat, pumpkin, a cat, and a ghost.

I waited until the pizza cooled just a bit so I wouldn’t burn my fingers and cut the pizza with cookie cutters. It was a little difficult to get through the crust, but pushing on the crust and the cookie cutter at the same time worked well. I also used plastic cookie cutters; it may be even easier with metal cutters. I also tried it on some leftover Tombstone pizza we had in the fridge and that was really easy to cut because the crust was a little softer.

Needless to say, the kids loved it!

I’m sure the kids would have been perfectly happy to have Butterfinger, Crunch bars, or Nerds for dessert, but I wanted to make something a little different so I baked some Butterfinger Crunch Cupcakes.

I experimented with some basic cupcake recipes and finally came up with a recipe I loved. You’ll need:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 fun size Butterfinger bars
  • 6 fun size Crunch bars
  • your favorite frosting (store bought or homemade)
  • Nerds candy for decoration

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and put the powdered sugar, butter, eggs, flour, vanilla, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.

Mix together until blended. The cake batter is a bit thick, but I promise it’s yummy!

Chop up your Butterfinger and Crunch bars. The size of the pieces is up to you. I tried with itsy bitsy pieces and big chunks and I preferred chunks.

Mix the bits into the batter.

It’s easier to mix them in with your big bowl of batter, but if you decide to do big chunks you can also just add a couple chunks to each cupcake after you pour them into your cupcake pan & then just mix it a little with a spoon to guarantee you get equal amounts of Butterfinger and Crunch bars in each cupcake. Bake in a muffin pan for about 15-20 minutes (mine were perfect at 18 minutes). I make 10 cupcakes with this recipe, but I filled them pretty high; you could probably get 12 cupcakes out of this recipe if you wanted.

The only thing better than cupcakes is cupcakes filled with Butterfinger and Crunch bars!

Once the cupcakes are cool frost them with your favorite frosting (I love whipped cream frosting) and top with Nerds candy. Enjoy!
