Orange and teal pumpkins - Teal Pumpkin Project

Food allergies are on the rise and Halloween can be a particularly difficult time for families of children with food allergies. To help families who are dealing with allergies, FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) is encouraging people to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project. Paint a pumpkin teal, or hang a sign with a teal pumpkin, as an indication to these families that you have non-food treats to give out to trick-or-treaters. Of course, you can still hand out candy to trick-or-treaters, but you can also have non-food treats available for children with allergies. Having small toys, stickers, crayons, bookmarks, pencils, or other goodies will available will help every kid, including the 1 in 13 kids with food allergies, enjoy trick-or-treating this Halloween.

For more information about the Teal Pumpkin Project, visit the Food Allergy Research and Education website.
