The Bear and the Bug Shop – Review and Giveaway

I love working with local businesses so when I was contacted by The Bear & the Bug Shop to do a review I was really excited. The Bear & the Bug is an Etsy shop created by Angela Pinelli, a graphic designer and a mom of three children under the age of three who lives in Chicago. She offered me complimentary decor to review.

I spent quite a bit of time on The Bear & the Bug; they have so many cute things and it was really difficult to decide between a growth chart or personalized artwork. And it was really tough to decide what type of artwork to get. (I have to admit that I kept checking out the girly designs because they were just SO cute!) They even offer hand-stretch canvas prints!

I wanted personalized decor for a couple reasons. First of all, every parent loves their child’s name; what better words to put in their room? Also, I think it has some educational value. Cooper learned to spell his name when he was three from seeing a banner we had of his name. I thought this would be great to teach Dexter, but I didn’t want to leave Cooper or Campbell out.

I emailed about my complete indecision and asked if they could do something with the names of all three boys. Angela suggested an art set with one print for each kid. She even offered to match the prints to the decor of our playroom, but I’d call our playroom decor “eclectic” so she suggested a transportation theme. I picked out orange and blue and got an email with some samples to choose a color scheme from.

A week or so later, we received these:

I love them! The color scheme is perfect, and I love the designs – they’re simple and modern, but fun. They’re printed on sturdy, high quality paper. John and I talked about whether we wanted to framed them or not, but we decided we liked them simple and unframed. (They’re also on the same wall as the window so direct sunlight so I’m not very worried about them fading over time.) If I did frame them I’d choose very simple white frames.

Here’s a closer look at each of the pieces:

The boys liked the artwork a lot and were excited about us putting it up in their playroom. Dexter saw the “x” and recognized that the sign said Dexter so he was really excited about that and he’s been spelling his name for us lately!

The Bear and the Bug Shop has a huge selection – please go check them out right now. And if they don’t have exactly what you’re looking for message Angela! You can also like The Bear and the Bug Shop page on Facebook.

The Bear and the Bug Shop is also offering prints for a giveaway! The winner will receive a 3-print series and can choose from a design in the shop or they’ll create a theme to match your room.

Disclosure: I received complimentary prints to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

  1. I can’t decide which design I like best. The chevron growth charts are very cute but I’m going to have my second son in a couple of months and I like the idea of two personalized prints for the room the boys will share!
