Pinocchio and Book Signing at the Chicago Children’s Theatre

It’s no secret that the Chicago Children’s Theatre is one of my favorite places in Chicago. We’ve seen a variety of shows there and they never, ever disappoint. The shows are amazing!

The Chicago Children’s Theatre is the perfect example of why I started this blog, and why I wrote The Ultimate Kids’ Adventure Guide to Chicago. It’s a Chicago treasure that I want every parent to know about and every child to experience. It’s seems fitting that my very first book appearance will be at the Chicago Children’s Theatre. You’ll be able to purchase a copy of The Ultimate Kids’ Adventure Guide to Chicago at the concession stand at any of the performances of the current show, Pinocchio, and I’ll be there to sign books on Tuesday, April 22 at the 2:00 pm show!

You can purchase tickets online, and if you use the promo code TODDLING you’ll receive a 20% discount on your tickets for the afternoon performance on Saturday, April 22. The TODDLING discount code is also good if you call and purchase tickets from the box office at 872-222-9555 (9:00 am-1:00 pm Tuesday-Friday).

After years of performing in different theater spaces, the Chicago Children’s Theatre moved into their very own space, The Station. The Station was a police station, but it’s now home to the Chicago Children’s Theatre shows and offices, and they have room now for classes and workshops.

Their newest show, Pinocchio, is presented in association with Chicago’s Neverbird Project, which has integrated hearing and Deaf actors for accessibility and inclusion. The story may be familiar, but the show will be a whole new experience. Light, sound, spectacle, and American Sign Language will be used to ask: How do you allow joy and grief to live in your heart simultaneously?

The show is recommended for ages 8 and up and has a running time of about 60 minutes. Pinocchio runs from April 20 through May 7 at The Station, 100 South Racine in the West Loop. Performances are Thursday at 10:00 am, Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $25 each, or $80 for a family 4-pack.

There will be an Access Weekend Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30:

  • Saturday, April 29 at 2:00 pm: Pre-Show Touch Tour starting at 12:30 for guests who are blind or have low vision, Audio Descriptions, and Open Captioning for guests who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
