Phone: 708-361-1873

Hours: St. Patrick’s Day – Thursday, March 17, 2011
The dyeing of the waterfall will be at 12 noon and again at 4:00 pm.
At 3:45 there will be a treasure hunt through the secret garden and an Irish snack for $5.00 (intended for kids in K-2nd grade).

Admission: Free

Parking: There is a large parking lot with free parking.

Bathrooms: Available in the nearby buildings.

Handicapped/stroller accessibility: The waterfall is across a grassy field from the parking lot, near the Nature Center. There is a path from the parking lot to the Nature Center. The path alongside the waterfall is very rough & often muddy.

Food/eating area: Food is not available. Lake Katherine does not allow picnics. There are many restaurants nearby, as well as parks. We often picnic at Homerding Park in Worth, located at 116th and Oak Park.

We paid: Nothing

Our experience: We’ve gone to the waterfall dyeing at Lake Katherine the past two years. We have a great time. There are paths nearby and a large field of grass (perfect for running). Cooper loved seeing the water turn green.

  4. Sarah,

How are the crowds usually? We were considering going at the noon hour, but wanted to make sure Charlie could actually see it.

    thanks!

  5. Samantha,
It does get crowded, but we go a little early to get a good spot. I don't think they'll be any problem with Charlie seeing it though; there's lots of space and it's so bright you could probably see it from the parking lot! 🙂
