Zaycon Foods - Toddling Around Chicagoland

A few months ago I posted some information about Zaycon Foods in a post called Fresher, Faster, & Cheaper with Zaycon Foods. The information I posted had been provided from Zaycon Foods and I indicated that I was excited to get my first order of chicken from Zaycon, and now I want to share a bit about that experience with you. (Spoiler Alert: I LOVE Zaycon Foods!)

First off, a little information about what Zaycon Foods is. Zaycon Foods provides families with food at bulk prices. You order in advance online; Zaycon offers boneless, skinless chicken breasts, beef, bacon, strawberries, and lots more, but availability varies by sale. On the delivery day you show up to the designated place (generally a parking lot) where Zaycon has their truck filled with food to distribute.

The Zaycon Foods website lists the locations, dates & times, and type of food available. You have to order in advance and lots of sales sell out. Payment is taken online and you receive an email confirmation as well as reminders about when to pick up your order.

We ordered 40 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken, which was offered for less than $80. Of course, when you hear that the prices are so low, and that it’s delivered to a parking lot off the back of a truck you’re bound to be a little skeptical. I did look up some reviews online and saw that a lot of people raved about Zaycon, so I was pretty excited about discovering a new way to save some money. Needless to say, John was skeptical too.

We arrived on our pickup day not sure what we’d find or even what we’d be receiving exactly. The parking lot had traffic cones and signs directing us where to go and we pulled up next to the truck. I gave an employee my name, he checked it on his electronic list, and they told us to open up our door. They laid a garbage bag down on the floor of our van (in case of any leakage) and loaded our case of chicken. In less than 3 minutes we were done and headed home.

Our chicken breasts were in a large plastic bag so we needed to pack them up in freezer safe ziplock bags when we got home. It was a bit messy just because it was 40 lbs worth, but John got everything packed up and into the freezer pretty quickly and we were all set.

I was shocked – seriously SHOCKED – at the size of these chicken breasts. They’re huge! John and I were very pleased with the ease, the size, and the quality of the chicken we received. It was SO convenient to know what we were paying (&  the price was excellent), to pick up our order without even getting the kids out of the car, and pack it all up at once. SO much better than dragging the kids to the grocery store and hoping or waiting for a good price. I’ve never found a good enough price to justify buying 40 pounds at one time so I buy 10 or so pounds and freeze some and then I’m back at the store before you know it for more. Zaycon was so much easier.

And yes, we have already placed another order and I’m encouraging my family and friends to order from Zaycon Foods too.
