Moms Love Mombo™ – Nursing Pillow Review and Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Comfort and Harmony for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have an (almost) 5-month-old son. I breastfeed him, which means that I spend a few hours a day planted on the couch (or sometimes or chair or the floor) nursing him. Before him I breastfed my other two boys as well. In fact, if you add it all up, I’ve breastfed for a total of more than 4 years already. If you’re a breastfeeding mom you know (or if you aren’t let me assure you) comfort is very important. Comfort for you and your baby. I’ve had backaches and sore arms because of breastfeeding in a bad position, and if the baby is not comfortable they are not going to nurse well.

Comfort & Harmony created the Mombo™ to be different from other nursing pillows. The Mombo nursing pillow for babies has a unique shape and a Firm2Soft™ 2-sided design. One side is firmer for positioning the baby to nurse and the other side is soft and comfy for positioning the baby for tummy time or sitting up. Also, the Mombo™ has a “vibe inside” – a vibration feature to soothe the baby.

I received a Mombo™ to try out and review. I noticed the shape first. Unlike other nursing pillows, it’s wide on the top and then tapered a bit on the sides. It was also a snugger fit around my waist than other nursing pillows I’ve used. I wasn’t sure about that at first, but it actually felt more comfortable. The firmness on the nursing side was nice; it’s more of a shelf than a rounded pillow. This, combined with the snugger fit, kept Campbell from rolling or sliding too much. With my old nursing pillow he sometimes would roll a bit away from me and I would have to catch him to keep him from falling off the pillow. That doesn’t happen as easily with this pillow because it’s wider and less rounded. He would also sometimes roll toward me to much and get wedged a bit between the pillow and me, but this problem is also solved by the Mombo™ because of the firmness and the snug fit.

The softer side of my Mombo™ cover is plush and has a Lion King design on it, and has a leaf on the tree that can be lifted. Campbell was able to sit up or lean back in the Mombo™ and was very interested in the flapping leaf. The vibration is activated by pushing firmly on the center of the pillow. I tried it a few times while Campbell was leaning back, but didn’t get much of a reaction from him; he didn’t seem to particularly like or dislike it. This feature might be nice for resting babies if they are soothed by the vibration.

The cover for the Mombo™ is machine washable (air dry). The pillow itself is not machine washable; it recommends spot cleaning only. Campbell did have a poopy diaper leak while on the pillow and it soaked through the cover to the pillow itself, but we were able to clean it easily. The vibrating feature requires one C battery which is not included. The vibration disc slides into a pocket in the pillow (under the cover) and it’s easy to push the pillow to activate the vibration feature.

I recently told my husband that a nursing pillow was the one and only baby item I could not live without. We own strollers and a pack n’ play that cost over $100 each and I haven’t gotten as much use out of them as I have out of a nursing pillow. It’s essential. The Mombo™ is less than $30, with covers starting at less than $15. That means if you breastfeed for 6 months you’re only spending less than 28 cents a day (less than the cost of just 2 diapers)! That’s well worth the money in my opinion.

Although Mombo™ is designed to be a nursing pillow, there’s no reason why you couldn’t use it to bottle feed as well.

Mombo™ nursing pillows and covers are available at Toys R Us and Babies R Us.

I would love one! This would be perfect for our cousin who is expecting. I wish this was around when my boys were babies.

  3. Anna Shannon says

My Boppy has an open seam and I’d love to try a new nursing pillow! I use nursing pillows every time I nurse my son and am absolutely uncomfortable without one and am completely useless with a needle and thread!

  4. I have two boys and one girl on the way. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t been able to get as ready as I would like with the third on her way. I would love to have this since I plan on breastfeeding just as I did my others. I know comfort is extremely important so that brings me to why I would love a new and improved pillow to have. I would appreciate it so much!

  5. I’m due in a few months and plan to breastfeed again. I love the features this has compared to the Boppy I used before.
