Our experience:
I’ve been looking forward to visiting Dog n Suds so when I noticed on Wednesday that it was Kids Night I convinced John we had to go there for dinner (it wasn’t that hard).
We told the kids we were going out to a restaurant to eat and it wasn’t until we arrived after driving for about 30 minutes that they might be a little upset about not getting out of the car. Luckily, they were perfectly fine with it and thrilled to be able to take off their seatbelts and play around in the back seat of our van.
We ordered our food and the boys playing the back with some activity books we had in the car. We got our food within about 10 minutes.
The boys each got a kids meal that came in a cardboard classic car (the boys were thrilled!). They each got a corn dog with fries. The kids meals come with a soda, which I don’t usually let my kids drink, so they drank water we brought but we let them try a little root beer too.
John got a burger with fries and coleslaw and a Snickers malt, and I ordered a root beer float, foot-long hot dog, and fries and coleslaw.
We all loved the food and it was fun to hang out in the car. It was especially nice to not worry about the boys being loud and disturbing other diners or doing something else to embarrass us. (Of course, they chose *this* meal to be on their best behavior anyway.) The waitress was very friendly and when we had to order a second corn dog for Cooper the waitress didn’t even charge us for it.
We had a great evening and we’ll be returning before the season ends.
Have you visited a Dog n Suds or other Drive-In? Do you have a favorite Drive-In?
Also a location in Grayslake!
Thanks Dawn! I don’t know how I missed that but I’ll add it now! 🙂
