What happens when Disney has a super-successful animated movie filled with ice? It becomes a part of Disney On Ice, of course.
Disney has announced that Disney On Ice will feature Frozen characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, and (my personal favorite) Olaf. Expect to hear some of your favorite Frozen songs – “Let It Go”, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Fixer Upper”.
I’m particularly excited about the sets and costumes for Frozen; I’ve always been impressed by Disney’s sets and costumes in their lives shows. Here’s what the Disney press release says about the sets:
To create a completely immersive experience for the audience, the set design will encompass the space from the ice surface up through the air, drawing everyone into the story and closer to the characters. Families will feel that they are trekking up to the North Mountains with Anna, Kristoff and Sven, and they will tangibly experience the storm inside Elsa. Elsa’s magic will be enhanced by state-of-the art special effects while her emotions will be conveyed through powerful skating.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney On Ice show without Mickey Mouse and Minnie, who will be hosting the show. There will also be special appearances by Disney princesses, and characters from Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King.
Performances are scheduled for Wednesday, January 21- Sunday, January 25, 2015 (10 shows) at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, and Wednesday, January 28- Sunday, February 8, 2015 (21 shows) at the United Center in Chicago. Tickets won’t officially go on sale until June 2, but by visiting the Disney On Ice Facebook page you can get a presale code for early access to the best seats available. Tickets can be purchased through the Ticketmaster website or by phone at 800-745-3000.
