I love a good burger, especially with cheese and bacon, so I was pretty happy to visit Meatheads with my kids last week. We were invited to come and learn more about Meatheads and their summer reading program with some other bloggers.
Of course, Cooper spent our drive to the restaurant reading a book on his tablet because you can’t drag that kid away from his books.
We had never been to Meatheads before, but I have heard good things about it. Before ordering our food, we learned that all of the food at Meatheads is made-to-order with high-quality, fresh (never frozen!) ingredients. In fact, Meatheads only uses a freezer to store ice cream for their milkshakes, never to freeze food. We also learned that they prepare each item as it’s ordered, and they even bread the chicken only after it’s ordered. We also learned that Meatheads has a “Take Care” policy: Take care of the customer, take care of the restaurant, and take care of each other.
The kids ordered grilled cheese and a cheeseburger with fries, and I got a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Of course, there was lots of excitement because of other blogger kids and activities, but they seemed to enjoy their food (despite the weird face Campbell is giving me for taking his picture!).
The portions for the kids were BIG so we grabbed a “to-go” container. Of course, Campbell couldn’t resist opening it up and eating a bit more.
Meatheads loves supporting the community and this summer they’re offering the Voracious Reader program to encourage kids to read. Here are some of the great things they’re doing with the Voracious Readers program:
- Kids who read 5 books will be rewarded with a free Lil’ Meathead burger.
- Meatheads will be hosting free events throughout the summer with special guest authors, libraries, and bookstores. Find a full list of events on the Voracious Readers page of the Meatheads website.
- Meatheads will be giving away a 4 passes to the Shedd Aquarium and a $50 Meatheads gift card to 6 lucky winners this summer. To enter, post a photo of your favorite children’s book on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest with the hashtag #VoraciousReaders between June 1 and August 1, 2015.
- The Meatheads’ Voracious Readers Pinterest board has recommendations for children’s books
