Fit Made Fun with LeapFrog LeapBand and CLIF Kids

LeapFrog, maker of some of our favorite educational toys, recognizes the importance of keeping kids fit and active. To encourage kids (and remind parents) to stay active, they declared a Fit Made Fun Day this September. We participated in the Fit Made Fun Day with LeapFrog Leapbands and lots of Clif Kids protein bars to encourage my kids, our friends, and you to stay active!

LeapFrog recently introduced Leapbands, a wearable activity tracker for kids. This isn’t your ordinary activity tracker though… it comes equipped with games and rewards to encourage fitness and fun!

Leapbands arrive partially charged, so you can pull them out of the box and use them right away if you want, which is great if you’re giving one as a gift. You don’t even need to hook it up to a computer to use it.

I opted to fully charge them (I knew the kids would be happier not to have to stop) and set them up. Leapbands offer parental settings so you control when your kids can use them. There are settings for when they wake up, hours they’re at school, and bedtime. It’s nice to know I don’t have to worry about my kids sneaking to use them after bedtime or at school. They can’t change the settings on the Leapband, but it only took me a couple minutes to change the settings by plugging the band into the computer when the kids were home from school sick.

The kids were very excited to try out their new LeapFrog Leapbands and they didn’t need a manual. Once we charged them, the kids put them on and immediately figured out how to use them and the cool stuff they could do. They picked out a customizable pet pal and started earning points for taking care of their pet and completing challenges. I think the points would be enough (who doesn’t love gaining points just for the sake of earning points?), but they can use those points to gain more pets and accessories.

The screen was easy to see, the buttons were pretty easy and intuitive (enough so that we didn’t need the instructions for the kids to start playing), and the quality of the graphics was much better than I was expecting for a kids sport watch.

Of course, the point of the Leapband is to get the kids active, so we had to head outside.

We planned a Leapband party, but with the start of school and the germs and illnesses that come with that, we had a much smaller party than we originally planned. Still, the kids got to get out and get active with their Leapbands!

There are lots of ways to use the Leapband and we were able to play different games. All the while, the kids earned points!

We tried out some of the activity challenges that come pre-loaded on the Leapband and did things like crawl like a crab and march like an elephant.

We also used some CLIF Kids activity cards that help to add 60 minutes of activity to a child’s day. The kids did jumping jacks, ran, and lots more.

I love to tell my kids to get outside and plan, but it often ends up with them sitting around. I love the extra push from the LeapFrog Leapbands. It gives them creative and fun new ideas for ways to be moving and active, and encourages them to do it with the games and rewards.

Even when we can’t be outside, the LeapFrog Leapbands are teaching kids to make healthy choices with games like Pet Chef, where they help their pet to collect and make healthy food.

Of course, the kids need some serious snacks when they’re staying so active. CLIF Kid ZBar Protein bars are made with organic whole grains and they contain no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, and no synthetic preservatives. They have 5 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber and come in three flavors: Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. My kids love them and I feel good about them eating CLIF Kid ZBar Protein bars.

The kids love the bars whole, but we decided to try some new things with them too. I chopped up a some chocolate chip bars, and put those out along with granola and craisins so the kids could choose which ones to use as toppings for their yogurt.

I also used some chopped up CLIF Kids Zbars Protein, raisins, and craisins to make a yummy snack mix. Campbell picked out all the CLIF bar pieces and left the rest of it in the bowl, and then asked for more.

LeapFrog Leap Bands are a great way to encourage kids to be more active and reward them for doing it, and CLIF Kids products are snacks I can feel good giving my kids to ensure they have the energy they need.
