Zerberts – BabyHawk Oh Snap! Review & Hoppediz Giveaway
Before my first son was born I decided I wanted to be a babywearer. I bought a couple carriers to try out and when he was born I was so happy I had them. I tried a ring sling first because so many people recommended it, but it just didn’t work out very well for me. My husband loved using the ring sling though. I also had a Moby wrap and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I did I loved it. Babywearing was a great way to give me free hands, but provide Cooper with the constant contact he wanted.
I’ve used baby carriers for Cooper and Dexter, but it can be difficult to find the right one. The Moby was great when they were babies, but not the most convenient carrier for me when they got a little bigger and more mobile. Carriers can be expensive, and it’s hard to know which is the right one to buy.
I was really excited to find Zerberts. Zerberts is a local, family-run business that specializes in helping parents find the right carrier. I talked to Ruth, the owner of Zerberts and a baby-wearing mother of three, via email and we talked about my kids and the type of carrier that would work best for us. I was mostly looking for a carrier to use for Dexter, and since he’s older and very mobile now, I was looking for a carrier that would work well for outings when he got tired of walking, but something that was quick and easy to get him in and out of. I was pretty sure a buckle carrier was the way to go, but there are so many to choose from. Ruth suggested the BabyHawk Oh Snap! carrier. She said it was a great carrier for older kids and she even uses it sometimes for her 4-year-old.
Here are some of the features of the BabyHawk Oh Snap! carrier:
- Designed for use from 6 months to 45 pounds
- Can be used to do front or back carries
- Seat darts and leg padding to give baby maximum comfort
- Taller body panel offers more support for older babies and toddlers
- Double chest belt for secure and perfect fit. No other sternum strap on the market like it!
- Three part adjustable waist so anyone can get a perfect fit!
- Straps that cinch down or extend to fit wearers from size 0 to 22 with no extra straps needed!
- Made in the USA!
As soon as the BabyHawk Oh Snap! arrived we were all excited to try it out. It took a couple minutes to get it figured out, but once we did it was pretty easy. Both John and I tried it out and both boys were anxious to be carried and it worked out for all of us. I didn’t think Cooper would really have any interest in it, but he was excited to try it out and has asked to be carried in it when we go out sometimes.
The BabyHawk Oh Snap! quickly became our go-to carrier. We keep it in the car all the time; I rarely bring a stroller with us on outings anymore, but I love having the BabyHawk Oh Snap! with me so I know that if one of the boys gets tired I can carry them comfortably.
The BabyHawk Oh Snap! can be used for front and back carries. The carrier is quick and easy to put on and take off so it’s great for times when Dexter wants to be carried for five minutes, then get down, then back up again. The waist belt is foam core and adjustable, and the shoulder straps are padded and adjustable. The carrier is very supportive and comfortable for me and John, as well as the kids.
I love how adjustable the carrier is. It’s even comfortable for me to wear the carrier (using the back carry) at 8 months pregnant!
The only difficulty we had with the carrier was the sternum strap, which buckles the two straps together across your chest when using the carrier in the back carrier position. It was a little difficult to put on (although it is easier now that we’ve had some practice) and it sometimes slipped a bit when John wore it.
The BabyHawk Oh Snap! is currently on sale on Zerberts. The regular price is $149.00, but it’s currently priced at only $125.
If the BabyHawk Oh Snap! isn’t for you, Zerberts carries other buckle carriers (Action Baby Carriers, AngelPack, Boba, Olives & Applesauce, and Two Mommas Design), Mei Tais (BabyHawk, Earthly Bliss, Hoppediz Hop Tie, and Two Mommas Design), ring slings (Earthly Bliss, Kalea Baby, Maya Wrap, Sakura Bloom, and Sweet Pea), wraps (Colimacon & Cie, Ellevill, Lenny Lamb, Wrapsody, Amazonas, Anaju Wrap, Hoppediz, and Moby), and water wraps (Wrapsody, Kalea Baby, and Two Mommas Design). Zerberts carries doll baby carriers, baby carrier covers, and lots more.
In addition to a wide selection of carriers, Zerberts offers free shipping on all carriers and a risk free program that allows you to get a full refund if the carrier doesn’t work for you.
Zerberts has a special offer for Toddling Around Chicagoland readers! Place an order with Zerberts of at least $50 and use the code “TACball” and you’ll receive a FREE Hoppediz ball with your order! This offer expires 12/31/12.
Zerberts is also offering a fantastic giveaway! One lucky winner will receive a set of three Hoppediz balloon balls. I had never heard of Hoppediz balloon balls before, but these are so cool! Hoppediz balloon balls are great toys for kids and they can be carried in your diaper bag, in the car, or even your pocket or purse to be used when you need to entertain your kids on the go. Hoppediz balloon balls are covers for balloons made from pieces of Hoppediz woven wraps; each one comes with two balloons which you slide into the cover, blow it up, and then twist to fasten it. When you’re done using the Hoppediz balloon ball just untwist, deflate, and pack it away! It’s safe for kids, much more durable than a balloon, and lighter than a rubber ball.
