The holidays are a stressful time. Add to that the fact that I’m expecting a new baby in less than four weeks and my oldest was sick and stuck in the house for a couple days, and everyone in the family has been a little on edge. So yesterday I took the boys to Wal-Mart to pick up an easy dinner and a movie for a family night. Our shopping list: Stouffer’s Lasagna, New York Texas Toast, Wonka Candy, and Ice Age 3.
The boys were a little chilly in the freezer section, but they were happy about the dinner we were picking up – Large Family-Size Stouffer’s Lasagna and New York Texas Toast. I was pretty happy about the great prices – only $9.86 for seven servings of lasagna and $2.97 for Texas toast.
We also stopped by the candy aisle for some after-dinner treats and picked up a bag of Wonka Spree candy.
Look for specially marked packages of Large Family-Size Stouffer’s Lasagna and New York Texas Toast with a coupon for a free bag of Wonka candy (up to $2.78 value).
Next stop was the electronics department. They had a great selection of children and family movies and we found Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs right away.
With everything we needed for our family movie night we were ready to get home.
At home I put the Stouffer’s lasagna in the oven. It’s super-easy – just put it in the oven and it’s done in less than 90 minutes. While the lasagna was cooking the boys played and cleaned up and then we sat down to watch the movie. They couldn’t stop laughing!
When the lasagna was done I tossed the bread in for 7 minutes and we were ready to eat! It’s so nice to have an easy meal when we’re busy. It smelled great and the boys dug in.
Cooper was a bit distracted by the movie, but he managed to enjoy his food too.
The food was delicious and we all had seconds. I originally planned to cuddle up with the boys with a bunch of pillows and blankets while we watched the movie, but they spent so much time eating that the movie was almost over by the time they were done. We had a little bit of time to cuddle before the very end.
We really enjoyed the movie and the boys will be excited to see Ice Age 4, which will be be out on DVD and Blue-Ray on December 11.

Cute boys! Looks like you had a nice restful evening!
It was a wonderful night!
I’ll admit. I’m always leery of the frozen lasagne (see, I can’t even spell it their way!), but I’m so glad it was yummy for you. I can’t wait to watch Ice Age on Sunday when we have a viewing party for Continental Drift. (Oh, and you said Ice Age 4 instead of 3 early in the post – FYI!) Glad you all have a great time!
Thanks! Enjoy Continental Drift! We haven’t seen it yet but we’re looking forward to it!
